Mom's Cornbread

2 eggs
4 T sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup flour
1/2 t baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
2/3 c. yellow cornmeal
1/4 c. butter, melted
1 c. buttermilk

Preheat oven to 400. Beat eggs, add sugar. Sift dry ingredients, add alternating with buttermilk, starting with dry and ending with dry. Do not overstir, this will make it tough. Add melted butter, stir gently. Bake in an 8" greased pan for app. 25 minutes.
